Fratelli Pizza Andare

F.P.A.is having their debut popup November 4th. Check the interview, and get to know the soul behind the craft.

Tell us a little about yourself?

Howdy, I’m Wes. I was born and raised in Orange County, California.

How did Fratelli Pizza Andare come about?

Fratelli started out as a quarantine hobby. Like many people stuck at home in 2020, I had time to think and reminisce about the glory days of when we could go out to eat and I remembered the first time I had a Neapolitan style pizza. I hunted and scoured OC for these glorious, fluffy, doughy, heaven sent pies but nothing quite satisfied the cravings. Before I knew it I was elbows deep into a Cambro hand mixing flour, water, salt and yeast while my freshly unpacked portable oven was roaring in the backyard. I had finally scratched the itch. Like many folks that wanted to hang out with friends during Covid, we had plenty of outdoor dinners, one of which I had shared some pizzas. Unanimously, they had told me “If you don’t sell these, you’re dumb”. After that evening, Fratelli Pizza Andare was born.

How do you describe and want people to feel about eating your food?

I hope it transports them to the first time they had a simple delicious meal or they experience that for the first time with Fratelli. My food is very simple, you should be able to taste each single ingredient and distinctly enjoy them individually and as they dance together.

When you’re not firing pizzas, what can the people find you doing?

When I’m not burning finger tips on red hot ovens, you can probably find me playing music with my buddies. I’m currently playing guitar and lap steel in a project called Hoogenboom with some really good friends. Our first single “Skipping Town” gets released October 26th.

Anything else you want to add or shoutout for the readers?

Fratelli Pizza Andare is a family affair. My mom has been a big part since the beginning. Her and I would have never spent this much time together in the kitchen if it wasn’t for Fratelli. I hope that anyone who eats one of these pies can taste the love and passion that we have for each other and the food we’ve cultivated together.
